Early New Year Gathering

When time is running short everything comes early – just like my New Year gathering dinner at Chilli’s. It was fun although we just spent few hours’ chit chat and laugh out loud like nobody cares. We were been seated at the smoking area due to the non smoking area is full when we arrived. So many visitors celebrated their birthday during the dinner hour with family and friends but we were there to celebrate our early New Year countdown. Here is the food we ordered and we have difficulty to finish it due to the portion served. Thanks for the wonderful night.... Happy New Year!

Tang Yuen

Yesterday was the Dongzhi Festival or Winter Solstice Festival. This festival is one of the most important festivals celebrated by the Chinese and other East Asians during the Dongzhi solar term on or around Dec 22nd when sunshine is weakest and daylight shortest. Traditionally, the Dongzhi Festival is also a time for the family to get together. One activity that occurs during these get together is the making and eating of Tang Yuen or balls of glutinous rice, which symbolize reunion. The festive food is also a reminder that we are now a year older and should behave better in the coming year. Even today, many Chinese around the world, especially the elderly, still insist that one is "a year older" right after the Dongzhi celebration instead of waiting for the Chinese New Year.

So many years in KL, I never had any reunion dinner during this festival but yesterday it was a great night to gather at Alex place for a dinner and Tang Yuen. Yeah now I’m one year older after eat the Tang Yuen which has been prepared by Aunty. Thanks so much to Aunty for preparing these delicious dishes and not to forget Jason and Alex for inviting. Oh yea, Shirley and Bill was there too... below are those delicious dishes I ate.

Sweet & Sour Prawn

YouTube's Most-Watched Music Videos of 2010

#1. Justin Bieber- "Baby"
Super-sensation Justin Bieber’s song “Baby” was a chart-topper around the world. The dream-date video (with a tip-of-the-hat to Michael Jackson) remains the most viewed YouTube video ever.

#2. Shakira- "Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)"
Shakira’s official song for the 2010 FIFA World Cup was a hit across the globe. The video set the stage for the year’s biggest sporting event, celebrating the greatest moments in World Cup history.

#3. Eminem & Rihanna- "Love the Way You Lie"
Eminem and Rihanna were destined to make one of 2010’s biggest hits. The (literally) explosive video with Megan Fox and Dominic Monaghan broke the YouTube record for most views in its first 24 hours.

#4. Eminem- "Not Afraid"
2010 was the year of Eminem’s Recovery and “Not Afraid,” his anthem to survival, announced his return to the top. The video does the same, taking Eminem from the streets to the top of the world.

#5. Rihanna- "Rude Boy"
Topping the charts around the world, Rihanna’s hottest hit gives a nod to Jamaican dancehall and ska with a color-soaked music video inspired by her own roots in Barbados.

#6. Justin Bieber- "Never Say Never"
Justin Bieber meets Karate Kid Jaden Smith, who follows in daddy Will “Fresh Prince” Smith’s footsteps, making his rapping debut on the theme song to his acting debut in The Karate Kid.

#7. Justin Bieber- "Never Let You Go"
Teen heartthrob Justin Bieber melted hearts by showing a seriously soulful side in this moody video shot at the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas.

#8. Lady GaGa- "Alejandro"
Lady Gaga once again courts controversy, this time by dressing up as a nun and dancing with soldiers in her video for "Alejandro," directed by legendary fashion photographer Steven Klein.

#9. Justin Bieber Feat. Usher- "Somebody to Love"
Justin Bieber displays his smooth moves and departs from his usual crooning on this upbeat dance track with mentor Usher. And with that, Bieber’s domination of the 2010 charts is complete.

#10. Lady GaGa & Beyoncé- "Telephone"
A throwback to big-budget epic-length music videos, "Telephone" pairs dueting divas Gaga and Beyoncé for a freaky-but-fashionable crime spree that would do Quentin Tarantino proud.

Achatina Fulica

Land Snail or scientific name achatina fulica is now known as one of the worst invasive species in the world. The land snails have been kept as pets; however, they are illegal to possess in some countries including the United States. The snails are easy to keep and when bred in captivity is unlikely to carry parasites. The adult snails have a height of around 7 centimeters (2.8 in), and their length can reach 20 centimeters (7.9 in) or more. If you are interested to know more about this little creature you may want to Google – this snail pic was taken yesterday and I think this snail looks cute. J

Arowana Malayan Food, Restaurant Asam Batu Laut & Siang Ji Bird Nest

Dec 10th 2010: Believe me one day at Tg Sepat is not enough as you don’t have enough time to cover all the places of interest. Tg Sepat is a town in Kuala Langat district in Selangor and it is on the straits of Malacca. Primarily Tg Sepat is a fishing town and well known locally for its many seafood restaurants. Beside famous for seafood, Tg Sepat has become a tourist attraction after so many commercial spots blooming in this small town – to name a few here: mushroom farm, dragon fruit farm, bird nest export hub, snacks factory and Chinese Ling Zhi farm plus many more. Sadly I yet to cover all the places of interest during my 4th visit to Tg Sepat. I will be back for more....

Arowana Malayan Food Industries, owned by Mr Toh. You can find more than 30 various snacks at the factory. For more info or visitation please call 03-3197 2888 or 3888.

Asam Batu laut Restaurant is located 5 mins away by driving from Arowana Malayan Food. The owner of this seafood restaurant is a childhood friend of Mr Toh. Delicious food, you have to come and try for yourself!

Siang Ji Bird Nest is a must stop place when you at Tg Sepat. After a long day at Tg Sepat you may want to have a bowl of the delicious bird nest at the most resonable price. For more info you can contact Mr. Jacky 0126501240, either for booking or visitation.
