Tong Pak Fu @ KLCC

It has been a while since my last visit to KLCC – this premium shopping centre has changed drastically with new outlets here and there. No doubt KLCC is the best place for dining, shopping, entertainment and leisure - all under one roof. The first thing that catches my attention when I came up from the parking is the dessert shop called Tong Pak Fu. I’m very surprised to see this shop as I just watched it on Ho Chiak program over the weekend and understand the outlet is located at Sunway Ginza. Without second thought I insisted to go for a try after our lunch at Little Penang at Level 4. Here is the review of my time spent at Tong Pak Fu.

Above: Overview of the dessert house - simply and colorful

Tong Pak Fu is the Cantonese homophone of Tang Bo Hu, a famous Ming Dynasty scholar. The ice blocks are made of 100% pure fruit juices without any artificial colourings or flavours. Tong Pak Fu aspires to brand its shaved ice as a premium dessert and hopes it will be a popular choice just like the traditional Chinese tong sui, a classic dessert in Cantonese cuisine. And there are plenty to choose from. Tong Pak Fu offers 45 hot and cold desserts.

G3 Kitchen & Bar

We supposed to go for Hummingbirds Cafe but since the cafe only opens till 7pm; we ended up at G3 Kitchen & Bar – on the same row as Alexis along Telawi 3, Bangsar. When we were there, the place was relatively quiet; I tend to feel uneasy when a place isn’t patronized, as that’s a possible indication that the food might not be good. However, the iced cappuccino proved me wrong at the beginning before our main course arrive.

The interior rather chic, with a touch of old-school charm and the jazzy renditions of hits songs were a wonderful accompaniment. Overall nothing to shout about but sufficiently comfortable, just the service is not up to par. As for the menu, there was an average selection of appetizers, main courses, beverages and wines. Apart from selling food, G3 also sells products such as pasta, sauces, chocolate powder and etc...

Front Overview
Overall
Behind the Counter
Dining Area - Cool

Menu

Drinks - My Iced Cap - BEST!
Seafood Pizza - Delicious
Turkey Sandwich - YUMMY!
Pavlova Cake - NICE...

As a whole, we (robin, alee, sam, adrian and me) were impressed with this new establishment, definitely worth a visit – casual dining, gathering, birthday and so for... hope they buck up on its service. G3 served us great tasting food, of a reasonable quality, for a reasonable price. I wouldn’t mind coming back for more and to try more of the desserts available.

Tang Shifu

The other day, I was at 1Utama with my colleagues for co-branding exercise with Tang Shifu. We dropped by slightly after lunch hour and it was my first visit to this restaurant. Its name, "Tang Shifu Restaurant" which literally translated from mandarin means "Soup Master Restaurant"! We met up with Larry the Marketing person in charge for Tang Shifu, he is very kind to offer us with open choice menu but we ended up order these healthy foods below. With the taglines read "Nourishing Life" and "Healthiness starts with Tangshifu", the menu was filled with different types of Chinese soups, mostly those of the herbal type. Different ingredients were used ranging from ginseng, to scallops, to your ever expensive birds nest!
